Recipe for How to Make Buffet Yeast Rolls Like Golden Corral in your Bread Machine or Breadmaker

One of my favorite things to bake are homemade yeast rolls. The recipe I use was originally from the recipe book that came with the Oster bread maker that my mother got for a Christmas gift nearly 20 years ago. The bread maker was replaced once while it was under warranty, but has been going strong for at least 15 years. I have made a few changes over the years to the recipe as originally published so I would like to share it with anyone who has ever wanted to make rolls at home. I would imagine that the recipe could be adapted to make without a bread machine, though I have never tried.

Ingredients:

1 cup warm water
4 Tbsp margarine, softened
1 egg
3 ¼ cup of bread flour
1/3 cup of sugar
1 ½ Tbsp active dry yeast
1 tsp salt

This makes a light, fluffy roll that is great addition to any meal.

Simply add the ingredients in the order listed in your bread maker and use the dough only setting. Depending on your machine you may have to adjust this some. My machine runs a 1 ½ hour dough only setting that works perfectly. It mixes, kneads, rises, beats the dough down, and then rises again. At this point I take the dough out and divide into 16 rolls that I put on greased cookie sheets. I let them rise another 30 to 45 minutes (depends on the temperature of the house,) and then bake for about 9 minutes at 350 degrees.

This has been a no-fail recipe for me since adjusting it a bit. (My adjustments were changes to the amount of yeast, sugar and margarine from the original recipe which made a softer roll more like what you find at a steakhouse.) You may want to peek at your dough when it has mixed a couple of minutes to see if it seems to be a bread dough consistency and not too sticky. If you live in a humid climate you may need to add a smidge more flour at this point in the process.

I hope your family enjoys these delicious rolls as much as my family does!

I am a regular rice eater yet there are days when I crave for breads instead of rice. Have to bookmark your recipe for those bread craving days of mine. Thanks.
