New Coke Freestyle Machine - 106 different flavors of Coca Cola Products for One Cost
By reindeerz
The Coca-Cola Freestyle machine is a new type of coke fountain drink machine being rolled out in many markets. The machine is a new type of soda fountain that dispenses 106 different flavors of Coca-Cola products. This new machine is building a loyal following in the locations where it has already been released.
The machine is very simple to operate from the customer standpoint; it is a touch screen format with just a few menus to work through. The machine dispenses ice, and the drinks themselves are at a very cold temperature to help provide the perfect glass of soda.
The machine operates from concentrated ingredient packages, so it eliminates the use of the large syrup boxes that traditional soda fountains require. One downfall for restaurant operators is that the machine cannot produce drinks in the speed of a standard machine, topping out at a maximum of just under 100 glasses an hour. According to an article in The Atlanta Journal and Constitution, the machines cost a minimum of $2,000 and can be considerably more once remodeling factors are considered because of the size of the Freestyle machine.
The drink choices seem almost endless. Many of Coca-Cola's basic drink flavors are available in different varieties such as: orange, raspberry, cherry, lemon, and vanilla. This machine is very exciting for those who drink diet beverages as Diet Coke, Coke Zero, and Sprite Zero are each available with several different flavor options. Having tried several of the exotic flavors, I was less than thrilled. However I was quite happy to be able to drink my favorite Cherry Coke Zero with my pizza for lunch. Other less common drinks in the machine include several varieties of flavored Dasani Water, PowerAde, and Fanta sodas.
The machine is still being rolled out across the United States, in the Atlanta area where I am based it is becoming easier to find around town. Many locations of Firehouse Subs, Taco Mac, Burger King, Schlotzsky's Deli, and AMC Theatres have installed them already. Rumor has it that they are being installed in several Wendy's locations around the area as well. If you are outside the Atlanta area you should see them popping up soon. Coca-Cola has plans to begin shipping the machines outside the United States in 2012. I anticipate that this machine will become a very important part of some target locations, but will likely not replace the standard drink fountain until it can duplicate its output speed.
Drinks I have personally tried include:
- · Cherry Coke
- · Orange Coke
- · Raspberry Coke
- · Vanilla Coke
- · Lime Coke
Each of these flavors is available in Diet Coke and Coke Zero as well.
I really enjoy traditional Cherry Coke and Cherry Coke Zero, but my Husband loves the Diet Vanilla Coke. He Says the Vanilla Coke Zero doesn’t taste as good.
There are also many variations of Sprite, Fanta, Powerade, Dasani Flavored Water and Hi-C.

Like joy56, I never thought so many varieties of coke!
amazing...
the one at the firehouse subs in sarasota, fl has dr pepper instead of pibb and vanilla root beer. it's so good.
The lime coke is the best! I also enjoyed my first experience in which I mixed lime coke, cherry sprite, and vanilla root beer. It was very good. I'm a coke fan for life (born and raised in Georgia!).
These machines are awesome. The first time I went into a pizza shop that had one I was taken aback by the choices, but it is just sweet. Nothing like trying all kinds of random flavors and I did enjoy my raspberry diet cokes, mm tasty. I wish now more places had this type of soda maker as it is fun to try new flavors, yet I have only been to a couple places that have one installed so far. Hopefully this catches on with more restaurants.
i just wish it had mountain dew...to bad its not a coke product...it would have been so cool for all the flavors of MD to be on there
The article you linked to in the AJC does not say the machines cost $2,000. It says owners are spending from $2,000 to $11,500 on remodeling costs to fit the machine. The article notes the machines lease for $320 per month. Other sources say the purchase price is considerably higher.
I just got off the phone with Coca Cola Corporate and they confirm that these machines are not available for purchase at any price. They are for lease only, to verified commercial accounts at a verified commercial address.
are the flavors added to the diet drinks, sugar free themselves? I am diabetic and can drink the ones at sonic, as their cherry is sugarless as well as the soda. Do these machines work the same way?
Yes, the flavoring for the diet sodas are sugar-free, or perhaps the specific flavor-syrups themselves are sugar-free...either way, it says that the diet & zero selections are still diet & zero-calorie.
Some of the flavor combinations are just disgusting. Orange Coke was okay...heard that it's previously been available in Russia. Cherry-Vanilla Dr. Pepper and Grape Mello Yello were not that great. Still a cool concept...really sucks when the vendors fail to keep the flavorings stocked, though.
